This 25-acre river site was previously used for fleeting purposes and has existing docking. The site has one 1,800-sf pole building and one 360-sf trailer with a truck scale adjacent. It is located approximately 1.3 miles from US-35. The topography is level and gently rolling.

Soil Information

According USDA NRCS, there are six soil types mapped for the site. The two dominant soil types that were mapped are Nolin silt loam (No – 8 acres, 30.3 percent of the site) and the Peoga silt loam (Pe – 7.2 acres, 27.2 percent of the site).

According to the FEMA FIRM 390185 FIRMette, the site is located in two Flood Zones, both labeled as AE, which have two different distinctions due to the location of the Ohio River south of the site. Zone AE furthest away from the Ohio River is described as a Special Flood Hazard Area that is subject to inundation by the 1 percent annual chance of flood. Zone AE has base flood elevations determined.

Floodway areas in Zone AE near the Ohio River are defined as the floodway in the channel of a stream plus any adjacent floodplain areas that must be kept free of encroachment so that the 1 percent annual chance flood can be carried out without substantial increases in flood heights.

Transportation Information


Currently there is one unimproved road that accesses the site off of Ohio SR 7. This access road is located along the western edge and middle portion of the site. The existing roadway surfacing comprises of asphalt and gravel.  This site is located 1.3 miles from US-35 and 34 miles from Interstate 64.


No railroad access currently exists. CSX Railroad does exist on the west side of Ohio SR 7 but is not accessible to the site.

River Access

Permitted river access does exist. The permit allows the loading and unloading of nonhazardous materials and fleeting. Old barges are being used as docking structures and they have the capability of fluctuating in height with the river level.


The Huntington Tri-State Airport is located 52 miles from this site, and the Gallia-Meigs Regional Airport is 2.5 miles from the site.


The Bridge Fleet Site is located near Ohio River Mile 265, which has normal pool elevations of approximately 538 feet amsl.

ODOT River Terminal Location(s)

According to the ODOT Division of Planning, Maritime & Freight Program information database, there is one terminal location identified at the site. The terminal is named O-KAN Marine Repair, Gallipolis Fleet Mooring with FID No. 242. This terminal is located at Ohio River Mile 265 and is owned and operated by O-KAN Marine Repair. The listed purpose of the terminal is mooring barges for fleeting.



Gas service is provided by Columbia Gas of Ohio Company. A gas line exists along the west side of Ohio SR 7. No gas service piping currently exists on the site.


Currently the electric service is provided by AEP. Electric service runs along both the east and west sides of Ohio SR 7. Three-phase electric power did previously exist on site for barge unloading operations, but it has been changed and currently is single-phase electric power.  An AEP 138kV line is located 1.0 mile west and 12kV on site and along SR 7.


Potable water service is provided by Gallia County Rural Water. A 6-inch potable water line with 60 psi exists on the east side of Ohio SR 7. No water service piping currently exists on the site.


Sanitary sewer service is provided by the City of Gallipolis. A sanitary sewer line exists along the side of Ohio SR 7. Currently no sanitary sewer piping exists on the site.

Storm Sewer

Currently the storm drainage sheet flows towards the Ohio River.
